How to stream cricket on YouTube without a copyright strike

Cricket channels get struck for showing or playing the match broadcast, not for talking about the match. A watch-along that uses your voice, your camera and live score graphics, with no TV pictures or audio, keeps the stream your own content.

In one line: viewers watch the match on their own TV or app; your stream adds the commentary, the scoreboard and the chat.

What you can show

Your own voice and cameraCommentary, analysis, reactions and chat with your viewers are your own content.
Score graphicsA live scoreboard, player cards, stats and polls. OnAirHero draws these by itself from the live match page; it never brings in match video.
Your own picturesTeam line-ups, your channel branding, a stadium picture or a 3D match simulation instead of TV footage.

A safe watch-along setup

  1. Camera and mic

Your face cam and a good mic are the show. Add noise suppression in OBS.

  2. Live score graphics

Add a score overlay that updates by itself, so you can keep talking. Set it up in OBS.

  3. Something to look at instead of the broadcast

A stadium picture, stats cards, polls, or a 3D match simulation played from the live ball-by-ball data.

  4. Tell viewers where to watch

Say which official channel or app shows the match, so they watch it there alongside you.

Questions

Can I stream a live cricket match on YouTube?

Only the parts you own or have permission for. You can stream your own commentary, camera and score graphics while viewers watch the match on their own TV or app. Re-streaming the broadcast needs the rights holder’s permission.

Does a “no copyright intended” note protect me?

No. A disclaimer doesn’t give you rights to the footage.

What does YouTube do when it detects someone else’s broadcast?

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other live broadcasts. It can replace your stream with a placeholder and warn you, then interrupt or end the stream if the content stays. A copyright strike can also end the stream.

I have a licence. Am I safe?

YouTube says to ask the content owner to add your channel to their allowlist through Content ID; without that, a stream can still be interrupted.

Will OnAirHero get my stream struck?

OnAirHero draws score graphics. It does not bring in any match video: its video window shows a stadium picture unless you put your own video in it. Strikes come from re-streaming TV footage or commentary you don’t have the rights to.

This is general information, not legal advice. Rules differ by rights holder and country; if in doubt, ask the rights holder.
